So I was told I got my new job, I unofficially start on Dec 1 (Wed) and officially start on Dec 15. Tomorrow I have to start getting my transition in order, and start prepping for the new role. I know there is going to be a great deal of learning to ramp up. I have started doing some preliminary reading and it is going to be a great deal more technical than my current role. I will also be on the inside again, no more rich expense account and extravagant customer meals. On the flip side, I can be clear and honest, and feel good about what I am selling and making.
Although I was lax on my blogging, I did workout ever day. Yesterday was my P90x day off, so I opted to jog to my moms and back rather than drive to help her find some things online. Today started the 3rd week of P90x and the workout was Plyometrics, which seemed oddly bearable in comparison to previous times. I feel stronger, and my legs look great, I just need to find a way to lose the tummy and love handles naturally or medically. 🙂
This week will be interesting as I travel to D.C Monday night, so I will need to workout early, and then will need to bring the disks with me for Tuesday and Wednesday, and then do my Thursday workout when I get home Thursday night. I have decided that no matter how late, I get my workout done. In fact the other night I did my workout at 10 PM and then showered and went right to bed, and felt better for having done so.
The long weekend was a great refresh, and I feel recharged for this new stage of my career.
Feel like a new stage is beginning
Sorry I’ve been lax
So I started up this blog and then have not posted for a while. Today its 2 days after Thanksgiving, and I have only missed one day of P90x, and that is because I ran that day. I enrolled in a 5K run for next weekend, so I need to start running out in the cold to condition my lungs. I live in a state of perpetual soreness, but I have faith it will pay off. Also of note I received news this week, that I received a new job I was interviewing for, I am the newest Product Manager for LotusLive (www.lotuslive.com). The job is going to be challenging in the beginning as I learn and ramp up, but I am looking forward to the challenge and the fun. I am off on a new adventure and I am excited and ready.
One more step forward
Today I awoke with a stiff back and sore shoulders and arms dreading the 1.5 hr P90x workout that is scheduled for today. I have attempted the YogaX workout on a few other occasions and have failed to make it past the 45 minute mark. I decided to take the advice on the workout disk and take breaks as needed. This actually worked well, since I was doing it between meetings. It was a very tough regimen, but I fell like I got a great workout, and will likely be sore tomorrow. Along the way I was very busy and didn’t really east much and what I did eat was healthy. Breakfast was a whole grain tortilla with PB. Lunch was my new favorite food Edemame Salad, and dinner was Boneless Skinless Chicken Thighs, Polenta with sauteed Mushrooms and onions, and a nice green salad.
My tip of the day is water , water , water. I am getting my 8 bottle (24 oz reusable bottle) a day habit!
And So It Begins……………..
Today starts the socialization of efforts to get fit. I will update as often as I can with my progress and hope to hear from others on their challenges and successes. Let me start by taking you to the beginning of this effort. Somewhere around Christmas last year (2009), I decided it was time to take my life back. Between work and life stresses I had let myself go, I did not exercise, and I was very unhappy with my weight and diet. So in January I decided I should start jogging. I went out for a short 1 mile loop and rolled my ankle. In my 10 years playing soccer I never rolled an ankle, but the fat out of shape me, sidelined myself for 2 months in one short stumble. I can honestly say it was one of the most painful experience of my life……but it was a wake up call.
During my healing time, I decided I needed a plan and a goal, and I decided the goal was to be a Sprint Distance Triathlon (Swim 1/2 mile, Bike 12 Miles, Run 5K), and the event I would compete in was the Winding Trails Woman’s Triathlon on September 12, 2010. I will document this challenge in a post of its own, but needless to say I now had my goal. I also started following Weight Watchers (www.weightwatchers.com) online. I planned to target 1-2 lbs a week with a target weight of 150lbs.
Along the way from March till now, I took up yoga (www.yogaonwhitney.com) , realized that I am not a huge fan of swimming competitively anymore, bought a bike and realized I love bike riding, and came to understand that running is a necessary evil, that can be enjoyable.
